Case study - New pupil

I took on a new pupil recently who had been with another driving school. She had completely wasted her money with them. She knew when to look into her mirrors but did not know why. Her mirror work was great, but then after two hours she asked me why she had to look! Nothing had been explained to her. She drove like a robot. Every corner was done in second irrespective of the speed or lay out. Biting pint was found every time she moved off even on the flat or, worse still, down hill. She was constantly changing gears even when it was obvious she was going to have to stop. So, instead of staying in 4th and stopping at traffic lights, for example, she was taught to go from 4th to 3rd then into 2nd and then stop. She was always doing something which did not give her time to look and assess the road conditions ahead. Now, we are making progress. We have got her driving like a human and thinking about what has to be to done, if anything. Its so rewarding when you get pupils like this and they can see their own improvement from the tuition you have given them.
